Richard B. Sanders born November 11, 1938 in Carroll, Iowa passed away September 29, 2021. After serving in the army Richard moved to California from Iowa in 1965. For 30 years he was employed by Stauffer Chemical Company in various supervisory positions until his retirement. Upon retirement Richard undertook his hardest role as a stay-at-home father. He prepared lunches, school projects, and later drove his son to work everyday.

Always willing to lend a knowledgeable hand to friends and neighbors in need, Richard was ready to tackle any tasks. Fences, pools, and roofs stand today because of ingenuity.

Life wasn't all about working in retirement. He took any opportunity to tend to his large vegetable garden, watch his favorite westerns, and take naps on a carpet that didn't look too comfortable. Richard loved taking his boat to the Colorado River and Catalina Island to go fishing with his homemade fishing poles.

Richard is survived by his partner of 50 years, Shirlene Upward, his son Richard Upward, his brother Kenneth Sanders (Janet), his sister Ethel Lilly, and his sister-in-law Pat Sanders as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Richard was predeceased in death by his parents John and Elizabeth Sanders, his sisters, Isabel Henrich, Helen Halbur, Elsie Boes, Doris Salsbury, Agnus Halbur, and his brother Robert Sanders.

Interment took place at the Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, California.
