Donald K. Carlson
Donald Keith Carlson, beloved son of Leonard and Marjorie Carlson, was born August 8, 1943 in Fullerton, California. He and his older brother, Bruce, were raised in Fullerton. His parents owned a moving company, Fullerton Transfer and Storage, and both boys began working in the family business at a young age.
Don attended several elementary schools in Fullerton and graduated from Fullerton High School in 1963. Don was an excellent swimmer, winning many competitions and awards and earning him the nickname “Windmill.”
Don proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1965-1968. He became an Army paratrooper and mastered the skills of radio operator and radio TT operator as well. Following discharge from the Army, this led to a career in telecommunications, working for GTE/Verizon, Cal-Fed and St. Joseph Hospital.
Don was raised in the Lutheran Church. Throughout the years he volunteered in several areas at various churches in the area.
Following retirement, Don relocated to San Antonio, Texas. He continued to maintain contact with family members and many childhood friends. He particularly cherished his time, memories and friends from Hillcrest Academy in Fergus Falls, MN.
Donald entered Heaven November 1, 2021. Don’s parents and his brother, Bruce, predeceased him. He leaves behind six nieces and nephews (Denise Rosen, David Carlson, Diana Gerritsen, Ryan Carlson, Julie Marschlowitz and Jill Bruckner) and many great nephews and nieces."*" indicates required fields
