Correen Carol (Crout) La Counte, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2024. She was 73 years old. Born on August 9, 1951, Correen lived a life full of love, faith, and service. She married the love of her life, Byron La Counte, on November 28, 1970, and they shared over 50 wonderful years together. Together, they raised three children: Kevin La Counte (Dorothy); Scott La Counte (Diana); and their late daughter, Rebecca (Becky) La Counte. Correen was a proud and loving grandmother to Hannah, Sarah, Joshua, and Miko La Counte. She also leaves behind her sisters, Terry Raley and Lynn Hill. She is predeceased by her parents, Eileen and Doug Crout, and her grandson, Mordecai La Counte. Correen’s faith in Christ was central to her life. She was a devoted Christian, a faith she passed down to her children and grandchildren. She was humble, selfless, and loved to serve others, often opening her home for Bible studies and hosting missionaries. Her heart for service extended to her love for children, as she spent over 20 years as a preschool teacher. Correen also earned her certificate in early childhood development from Fullerton College and frequently volunteered her time reading to children in her community. She was a lover of books, travel, and learning, with her favorite destination being Paris. Her love for knowledge was something she passed on to the many children she taught over the years. Correen considered her greatest accomplishments to be her children and grandchildren, whose lives she touched deeply. Her gentle spirit, generosity, and unwavering love for her family and faith will be remembered by all who knew her. A graveside service will be held on October 9, 2024, at El Toro Memorial Park (25751 Trabuco Rd, Lake Forest, CA 92630) at 1:30 p.m. to celebrate Correen’s life.
