Billie Nelson
IN MEMORIAM Billie Nelson, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away at home in Anaheim, CA due to complications from dementia. She was 95 years old. Billie was born in a small house in Santa Monica near the beach to William Lloyd and Josephine (Adams) Lloyd on July 16, 1925. She was always so proud that her father was a circus clown for many years, and during Billie’s early years she counted colorful circus folk and chimpanzees as her friends. Billie graduated from Poly High School in Los Angeles in 1943. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Constantino “Connie” Arpon, and they had one daughter, Marsha Arpon. Billie’s second marriage ended tragically just three weeks later when her husband, William “Bill” Boyd was killed in a motorcycle accident. On November 24, 1955 Billie married her beloved husband Paul “Pat” Nelson, and they were married for 65 years until his recent passing on March 25, 2021. Along with Marsha, they raised daughters Pamela, Kristen, and Kathleen. Besides her busy role as a mother, Billie worked for years as a bank teller, a registration supervisor at the Anaheim Convention Center, then as an insurance biller for a physical therapy office. She enjoyed her work so much that she didn’t retire until the age of 75. Billie loved being with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was always available to help babysit when needed. She was an excellent seamstress and tried to teach her daughters how to sew, knit, and crochet. She loved to read and encouraged her daughters with many trips to the library. She enjoyed going to the movies and was an avid movie buff. Billie had a beautiful tenor voice and sang for many years in her church choir at Lamb of God Lutheran Church. In later years, she loved going with Pat to Las Vegas or to Laughlin to play the slot machines. We know that when our mom took her last breath on June 30, 2021, our dad was standing next to her bedside and he put his arm around her to lead her off towards heaven. We are comforted knowing that they are together again. Billie is survived by daughters Marsha (Arpon) Morales and husband Bob, Pamela (Nelson) Leader and husband Richard, Kris Nelson, and Kathy Nelson. She is also survived by grandchildren Jeffrey Morales, his wife Jennifer, and children Jacob and Jeremiah; Gregory Morales; Brittany (Ippolito) Brown and children Emily and Paul; Stefanie (Leader) Beisner and her husband Steve, and children Amelia and Avery; Sara Leader; and John Leader. She is also survived by her brother Charles “Chuck” Matthews and his wife Linda, nephewCharlie and niece Erika and their families. Billie will be buried at Riverside National Cemetery next to her husband Pat. For funeral date and time, please contact the family.
