Orange, CaliforniaAscencion Torres, 100, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2024 at home with her family by her side.
Ascencion was born on March 13,1923 in the city of Placentia to Vicente and Cristina Torres. Always a hard worker, she went into the workforce at a very young age. Ascencion worked at several places in and around Placentia with her last employer being Fender Guitars in Fullerton. She later retired from Fender in order to care for her ailing elderly father.
Always a devoted and religious daughter, Ascencion was an integral part of her family. In her later years, she happily cared for several generations of nieces and nephews who all called her Nina regardless if she was their official Godmother. She had stated many times that taking care of children kept her young.
In her free time she did embroidery as her mother had instructed her. Ascencion was able to sew fine stitches with patience and attention to detail. Embroidering beautiful pillowcases and table coverings for her home was something she enjoyed. Ascencion also loved being outdoors tending plants as her father did. She did all the heavy gardening chores such as trimming trees, digging holes, preparing the earth for planting, and mowing the lawns. She finally hired a gardener to deal with the lawn when she was in her seventies.
Ascencion was predeceased by her parents, her brothers Ynes Torres and Vicente Torres, and her sisters Julia Rodriguez, Lupe Agundez, Isabel Castro, and Angie Moreno. She is survived by her youngest sister Mary Rodriguez and many nieces and nephews.
Ascencion was a loving aunt, sister, daughter, and friend who will be desperately missed by all those she has left behind. We as her family will continue to cherish our fond memories of her."*" indicates required fields
