Happiness Runs Its Course!

Did you know that the most popular courses in the history of both Harvard University and Yale University are courses on happiness? It’s true and both have had a significant impact on the mental well-being of not only the students who take them, but also the general public.

Entitled Positive Psychology 1504, the Harvard course is taught by Professor Tal Ben-Sharar Ph.D. He is a well-known lecturer on the subject of positive psychology and leadership. The course was first offered in the spring of 2006 and consists of 22 lectures with a focus on life fulfillment. It covers the topics of empathy, friendship, love, achievement, creativity, spirituality, happiness and humor. Dr. Ben-Sharar has given numerous Ted Talks and interviews, many can be found on You Tube

At Yale, the “Happiness Lab” reigns as the highest attended class in the University’s 300-year history. Dr. Laurie Santos teaches “Psychology and the Good Life” which provides guidance on how to make wise choices to create a happier and more fulfilling life. The online version of the course is entitled “The Science of Well-Being” it is available for free.
