Anne M. Colicchio
Anne Marie Colicchio - Loving Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and friend.
It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the loss of our beloved mother Anne Colicchio, who passed away on Friday, January 19, 2024.
Anne was born October 16, 1934 in Pennsylvania and was the daughter and eldest child of Fred and Hattie Gross. Anne primarily grew up in Olean, New York and graduated from Portville Central High School. She then completed a college business course, was married and had four children.
In the mid-1960s, Anne relocated to Southern California with her children and raised them in Anaheim. She worked for many years at the Anaheim Bulletin newspaper and then as a bookkeeper at Orange Engine and Parts #2, also in Anaheim.
Along the way, she often helped care for her young grandchildren, enjoyed lunching with her good friends Darlene and Susie, and truly loved attending California Angels baseball, Los Angeles Rams and Anaheim High School football games. She also spent hours knitting beautiful afghans for her kids and grandkids, loved reading, dining out and sipping a great California chardonnay now and then.
Anne retired in 2000 and spent the next 20 years of her life in the hidden High Sierra town of Graeagle, California, truly her ‘heaven on earth’. There she made many good friends, enjoying the fellowship of the Graeagle community. She spent time tending to her garden, attending church, playing cards with the girls, dining out at Gumba’s, Grizzly Grill and The Coyote Grill restaurants, to name a few. She often welcomed her Southern California friends, as well as her kids, grandkids and ‘grand-dogs’ for summer visits. Anne loved cooking and trying new recipes. Her meatloaf and chicken tenders/mashed potatoes & peas were ‘legendary’ and favorites among her grandkids.
In the fall of 2020, Anne moved back to Southern California to live out her days close to her family. We loved having her back with us and cherish the time that we spent with her.
Anne is survived by her 4 children: Patricia (Bill) Boatright, Barbara (John) Russo, Thomas (Sabra) Colicchio, and Michael (Rose) Colicchio; 7 grandchildren: Anthony, Katherine, Erin, Joseph, John, Emily and Isabella; also 2 great-grandchildren: Evan and Cameron; and 5 siblings: Debbie, Cindy, Fred, Joe and Mark.
Anne was predeceased by her parents, her sister Bonita Pascucci and brothers Ronald, Douglas, George and James Gross.
Anne was a generous, devoted and loving mother and friend with an unmatched wit and sense of humor. We are all better for knowing and being loved by her. Her passing leaves a hole in our hearts the size of an NFL football stadium. Rest in peace, dear, sweet Mom."*" indicates required fields
