Emiliano De Santiago Ontiveros

Emiliano De Santiago was born on April 24, 1968 in San Martin, Colon, Queretaro, Mexico to his parents Emiliano De Santiago Guerrero and Marina Julita Ontiveros Barcenas. He grew up with his four sisters and two brothers. He enjoyed school, especially math. He also enjoyed playing baseball, even though he didn’t have a bat, just a piece of wood.

In 1982, he made the journey to come to California, he was just 14 years old. He had a dream for a better future. He had a rough time growing up in California. His first job was at a Car Wash. He also became a bus boy, cook, and a packager at a seafood company. He worked overnight hours at Anderson Seafoods, for what would turn out to be 37 years. He was proud of his job and enjoyed what he did. He worked hard to not only provide for himself, but also his family. On November 24, 1989 he met Maria Del Carmen Hernandez. They married on April 27, 1991. Together they had five children, Anthony, Victor, Alyza, Frankie, and Emelie. He loved his children and always put them first. He had the opportunity to welcome and make memories with his grandchildren. To him, they were each very special and he loved them tremendously.

Emiliano was always spontaneous, wanting to drive to the mountains, to the park, the lake, play soccer, go out to eat, and ride bikes. He loved making memories with his family and close friends. He loved to grill and cook for his family. He would always ask for dessert, chocolates, or peanuts after eating. He had a big heart and was always willing to help others, whether he knew them or not. He didn’t have many close friends, but he cherished those who were close to him.

In July of 2022, he began to feel sick and was diagnosed with cancer. Through many tests and doctors visits, he was diagnosed with Histiocytic Sarcoma, a very rare and aggressive form of cancer. He fought through many doctor visits, procedures, and chemotherapy. He wanted to get better and healthy, so that he could go back to Mexico to visit his family and continue making memories with his wife, children, grandchildren, and loved ones. Unfortunately, he lost his battle with cancer at 9:13 pm on July 9, 2023. He was one of the most caring, hard working, determined, family oriented, funny person someone could know. Emiliano is missed dearly by many.
