Hazel Constance Lohman

Birth: December 17, 1924 | Died: July 11, 2021

Hazel Constance (Wiggins) Lohman was born on December 17^th 1924 in Old Headington, Oxford, England.  She grew up in Oxford and met her husband Jack, a U.S. Army medic, stationed near her town during World War II.   After the war, Hazel traveled to New York on one of the first post-war passenger ships and she and Jack were married on March 8, 1947. The newlyweds lived initially near Pittsburgh, PA, as Jack started his teaching career, and had their first two children, Charles Andrew and Barbara Louise.   The young family moved to California in 1950 and welcomed two more children, Elizabeth Iva and Barry James.  They then relocated to Anaheim in 1954 where Hazel became an active member of Grace Lutheran Church for more than 67 years and volunteered in the PTA.  She was also a Red Cross volunteer and a Salvation Army supporter. In 2001, after 54 years of marriage, Hazel lost Jack, the love of her life.She moved to Corona in 2002 and enjoyed attending Peace Lutheran Church.  She joined the Corona Historic Preservation Society and became an avid supporter of a variety ofanimal rescue causes. Hazel loved gardening, knitting, traveling, concerts, ballet and the theatre.  In addition to her four children, and daughter-in-law and son-in-law, Hazel was the happy grandmother of three. Hazel lived her beautiful life with grace and style and exemplified the meaning of kindness, generosity, love, support, and joy. Her outlook on life is best summed up in the words to the Anglican hymn “All Things Bright and Beautiful”.  Above all she possessed a deep and abiding belief in God. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests consideration of a donation to one Hazel’s favorite charities: American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), Salvation Army or the Mary S Roberts Pet Adoption Center in Riverside.
